I got a recipe suggested to me on this blog, so I decided to make it! Why not? The other new recipe I had scheduled this week is the simple "barbecue chicken", which is "dump chicken and a can of barbeque sauce in a slow cooker, then cook for six hours".
2 pounds hamburger meat
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1 medium onion
1 bag of Tater Tots
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Brown hamburger meat with onion, drain off grease and add some salt and pepper. Add soups and mix well. Lightly spray casserole dish with Pam cooking spray (to prevent sticking) Place in casserole dish (9x13 inch dish). Cover the top with a layer of Tater Tots. Cover with shredded cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cut and serve using a spatula.
The recipe ended up being fine! It's like meatloaf with two soups mixed in, and a tater tot layer on top. I think it was actually a little better than my normal meatloaf, because I got to brown the meat ahead of time. I might try doing the recipe again, with other meatloaf ingredients in the meat part (i.e. egg, ketchup, bread bits, meatloaf sauce packet). My wife thinks meatloaf is bland, unless you add those things. I could taste the mushroom soup a little, but not the chicken soup.
Thanks for the recommendation, Berry!
