Copyright Troubles

Hey, remember the fun Japanese dating sim I played?

Someone took MAJOR issue against them. When I logged on to YouTube today, I was informed that the videos were all removed, and my channel is getting two copyright strikes against it.

The policy is "three strikes, you're out", so if this happens again, my channel will be auto-deleted. I'm trying to figure out why ONE takedown is worth TWO copyright strikes, but odds are that I will be stuck on this "one mistake away from total removal" cliff for the next year.

I'm not sure what this means for the future of the arglefumph channel, but I'll keep you posted. Right now, I'm looking at a "worst case scenario" where I won't be able to post anything until Oct 26, 2015. Or at least, a super-limited posting schedule.

Uh...Happy Halloween?

Well that's idiotic. Doesn't youtube bother to *LOOK* at the reports at all and see if there is an actual issue or is it all automated? (Which would be highly unfair, IMO)

I suppose, technically speaking, you posting a video with *any* game footage could be considered copyright infringement - but if that were the case, all the game clips, and video walkthroughs out there would be a serious problem.

Isn't this the second time you've been hit with something like this? Its possible they're counting that first one with the public-domain music that got slapped and they're counting both strikes against you. Just a thought.

I hope you can fight this. Sounds like someone's getting jealous of your channel or something.

I hope it is some kind of Halloween prank, because when I've been on YouTube, I have seen some channels where the user has uploaded full TV show episodes with no issues from YouTube. If they can upload episodes, then why can't you be allowed to upload game walkthroughs? It doesn't make sense.

From what I understand, a lot of the system which flags accounts or removes videos is automated. I don't think there's a lot of oversight into the process simply because YouTube has become too big for their staff to monitor all the content. Unfortunately, this has led to a "guilty until proven innocent" kind of system.

There are a few channels that you can use to talk to someone at the company. Maybe you could use some of those forms to get the second copyright flag reversed? This person has links to the forms you need to use in her post. Their situation was a little different from yours but I think that the same contact methods can get you talking to the right representatives.

I hope you figure out a way to solve this issue. They just can't delete your channel. :( I'm like you I have no idea why you go two strikes for one offense. That is idiotic.

ALL of the videos were deleted? And you only got TWO copyright strikes? I'd consider myself lucky, as most people get strikes based on each copyrighted video they post.
