Frozen 2

The other day, I made a joke tweet about Frozen 2: Fire and Ice, where Anna gets fire powers and stuff. Apparently, several hundred other people had this idea before I did. Now I'm starting to think the idea is not so good.

"Anna gets exciting weather powers" seems like a decent premise, but there's not much you can do with it. After all, the list of "weather powers Elsa can't control" is pretty short. Basically, the only weather powers left over are fire and dirt. Nobody wants to see Anna build a dirtman, so the Internet chose fire as Anna's magic power. It works, because fire and ice are kind of opposites.

Only I'm hard-pressed to think of a way to make that work, without it being a rehash of the first movie. "A princess gets weather powers, which makes a wedge between her and her sister." Yeah...that's the premise of Frozen. Giving Anna weather powers in a second movie is just repeating the premise.

But hey, there's some cool artwork of Fire Anna.

From what I've seen and read and heard, the 'Anna gets fire powers' is more of a headcanon for how Anna helps save Arendelle and patch things with her sister - not a sequel idea, though I'm sure fans have made that idea work, too.

Elsa shouts "what power do you have to stop me??" during the scene after the FTIF Reprise, and fans thought it would be appropriate that that power should have been fire (cause fire>love apparently). Anna has red hair, and a typical fiery redheaded personality, so it would have been appropriate in that regard as well. And it's rather unfair for Elsa to have been born with cool powers for literally no reason, while Anna is delegated as just being "completely ordinary". Anna really gets the short stick in this movie.

And I'm sure you know of the Tangled/Brave/Frozen fan mashup universe where Elsa is Winter, Merida is Autumn, Anna is Summer, and Rapunzel is Spring (or maybe Rapunzel and Anna are switched; I can never remember).

I saw this idea on Pinterest; i did not come up with it, but Josh Groban is Elsa's love interest and has fire powers. I think that would be a great idea.

Am I the only Frozen fan who doesn't want a sequel? It seems like people think all good movies need a sequel, but oftentimes, the sequel doesn't live up to the first and ends up ruining it. Its all about money with them. A short film would be cool though.
