Nancy Drew Mini-Mystery

The Nancy Drew facebook page shared a fun mini-mystery yesterday.
A Nancy Drew Mini-Mystery: Ned went to a party and drank some of the punch. Nancy wasn't there so he decided to leave early. Later, Ned found out that everyone at the party who drank the punch was in the hospital because the punch had been poisoned. Why was Ned not affected by the poisoned punch?

The solution is the poison from the punch came from the ice cubes. When Ned drank the punch, the ice was still frozen. Gradually, as the ice cubes melted the poison was released into the punch. Since Ned left early, he didn't drink the poisoned punch.

Highlight the above paragraph to read it.

This is a solid mystery, but I have to say that some of the comments were even more entertaining than the mystery.  The most popular joke suggestion is that Ned poisoned the punch.  The second most popular joke suggestion is that Ned has seen The Princess Bride, so he spent a few years building up an immunity to Iocane Powder.

Either way, it seems Ned should be more careful the next time he receives a party invitation.

Maybe the punch got poisoned after he left? That´s not very funny, but realistic. Or now one with some paranoia, someone wanted to frame Ned for poisoning the punch...
Oh, I don´t know. I´m not good at these kind of stuff.

There was no mention of ice in the punch. Or a description of it which is misleading. A completly plausable explination involves Ned leaving before someone poisoned the punch. I think the writer of this mini-mystery was clever but should consider a more air-thight situation. Poisoned fruit could have been added in or the orginial punch could have been drunken by the guests and then the host put out a second batch that the culprit poisoned. Perhaps I am over-thinking this mystery but I have a habit of pursuing all logical paths when dealing with mysteries.

Ned poisoned the punch XD are we talking about the same Ned here?!?! That is a very clever little thing. My dad told me something a little bit like this. (not really it has to do with logic)
Q: How do you put a giraffe into the fridge?
A: You open it and put the giraffe inside. >:P
Q: How do you get the elephant into the fridge?
A: Open it, take out the giraffe and put the elephant in. >_<
Q: If the Lion king had a meeting, what animal would be absent?
A: The elephant because it's still in the fridge. >:O
Q: How do you get across a crocodile infested river?
A: You swim across because all the crocodiles are at the Lion King's meeting! *facepalm* Rediculous right? If anyone gets it without cheating, tell me.

That is funny, but, I kind of like the second suggestion better than the first one. You're idea of what may of happened is my favorite, because, it sounds like the most logical one! The reason why I don't agree with the first one is that I highly doubt that Ned would poison the punch, that sounds more like something lukas would do(;

Maybe the punch would only take effect if you drank more than one glass.

To the comment above:
Oh, how cute, a little kid wanted to draw the attention to him by trying to insult everybody! Maybe you have my intention now, kid, but nobody is going to fall for your little trick anymore. Have a good day!

This is my thoery: The punch had ice cubes in it. The ice cubes had the poison in them so as the night went on the ice cubes melted into the punch thus releasing the poison into the punch. Ned didn't get any of the poison because he left eary before the ice cubes had time to melt.

Sorry should of been *theory

Um, trace? Did you by chance look at the solution?

I'd say he left before the punch was poisoned.
