I think Nancy's left anonymous so girls can imagine what she looks like, so she won't discriminate. To stretch the message that girls can be anything and anyone they want. Though I'm dying to know.
I pretty much agree with Anonymous at 12:58... I think they are deliberately not showing Nancy so girls can picture her how they want. They do, however, make it clear that she has red hair, which I am quite happy about. In the various "batches" of ND books that have come out over the years, Nancy's description and appearance in terms of hair color has bounced back and forth between "titian", "strawberry blonde", and "blonde", but I always preferred to think of her with red hair for some reason. I just like it. :)
The funny thing about the whole "not seeing Nancy thing" is that she's on the cover of almost EVERY book. Except the Girl Detectives 1-29... I find it ironic XD
It's just like the Ned problem. Her Interactive in Alibi in Ashes was very illusive that we were going to see Ned. We obviously just saw a cartoon drawing of him. And the drawing didn't look a thing like I would have pictured him to be.
If we ever see Nancy Drew, I'll make sure that I don't look at it. I don't want to be hurt again! :D

you can also see her hair on the hunting of castle Malloy

I remember taking that picture in Shadow at the waters edge, and getting so excited at seeing a (blurry) picture of Nancy!

In The Haunted Carousel you see her foot stuck in the roller coaster track.
Oh, and you see her eye in stay tuned for danger
I sort of don't want to see what HI depicts her as. I like to use my own imagination and knowledge from the original series. :D
Look at the face of Nancy Drew on her books.
