Blog Projects

I've been reading a fanfiction based on Nancy Drew: Legend of the Crystal Skull.  Basically, each chapter of the story is about five minutes of gameplay.

I want to write a story like that.  I was thinking I'll write it here on my blog.  It seems easy enough, and I like the fact that each chapter takes a short time to write.  But even if I write a new chapter every day, it'd probably take two months to finish.  Two straight months of Nancy Drew writing is too much, even for me.

Plus, if I'm going to do a series of entries around the same topic, it really should be about my trip to Spain, because my notebook from the trip is sitting on my bookshelf, lonely.  That's two weeks of information which is already written; I just need to type it up.  Another project I'm working on is a week of entries about the meaning of life and the nature of happiness, which is shaping up to be exciting and philosophical.

What do you guys think?  Do I go ahead with Nancy Drew?  Do I go ahead with the stories of my trip to Spain?  Should I try to do both at the same time, or should I keep up with my normal routine of blog writing?

If you talk about Spain, I might be able to throw in my two cents...

Nancy Drew, Nancy Drew!! Although, it would be nice if every third post was about Spain. You know, alternate. :)

As Phillip said, you could rotate, like, have Nancy Drew on Wednesdays and Fridays and other blogs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Something like that, maybe? Because if you just stuck to Nancy Drew, I would miss lots of your other blog posts. :)

I agree with Becki. I would miss your normal posts, but it would be nice if there was some new things too. You should alternate if you want to because I think it was a great idea!

Great idea guys! My only request is that you throw in a few of your own twists to the Nancy drew story!

I'd love to know about your trip to Spain!

I think you should do the Nancy Drew & daily blog writing. But I agree what Becki said.

I agree with everyone! It would be very interesting to see what twists you could put on Nancy Drew. But we would also LOVE to hear about Spain! Along with the regular blog posts, of course. Keep up being awesome!!!

The fanfiction was pretty awesome btw.
I like Jane/Henry!
Well, anyways...
I think you should have a specific day of the week.
Like what Becki said.

Why not just alternate day to day. Day 1 could be about Nancy Drew and the next day is about your trip then Nancy Drew...you get the gist.

Nancy Drew, naturally. :) We always need more stories to read.

But, as others have suggested, alternating and shuffling topics around is not a bad thing. I don't know what your schedule is like, or how fast you write. Personally, when I am writing fiction (something I do a LOT of), I tend to write slower. Although I'm not sure if thats my natural pace of symptoms of the bad situation I'm currently in. Other people can rattle off chunks quite fast.

If you are a fast writer, have the schedule then sure, a chapter a day would be great. On the other hand, you could say a chapter a week, give yourself a bit more time to write something better than a rapid day's scribbling might get you, then use the rest of the week to post other topics. Like your trip to Spain, which, by the sounds of it is already written and just needs typed in?

It is, of course, up to you, but yeah. I've been looking into web-novels (blovels, blooks, whatever one wants to call them) and they *generally* seem to go by a more weekly pace than daily.

Just some thoughts. :)

I'll say Spain. I enjoy fanfiction as much as the next person, but I really like it when you give us a glimpse into your own experiences.

The posts about your trip to Washington DC were quite entertaining, and although I know Spain was a more, serious? in nature trip, I think it would be just as much fun to read. Sure it may not have tales of the world's most okay burger or pictures of zoo animals, but I think it'd be a great read and very informative.

And besides, it gives you another opportunity to not just be "The Nancy Drew guy" (Which isn't bad at all, but sometimes it seems to bother you...I think being put in a box would bother anyone)

Plus, I'm not catholic so I didn't go or really think about going, or really even know it was going to happen, meaning that it'd be a whole new thing to learn about for me! :D

(Hope that extremely long suggestion helps!)

Whatever you do, Micheal, keep in mind the one true important question:

What Would Nancy Drew Do??
