Beauty and the Beast 3D

Back in June, I said that the next Disney movie is the Lion King in 3D.  Well, the next Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast in 3D.

So, does anyone remember when Disney changed their policy on sequels? You know, after they made Mulan 2, Lion King 2, 101 Dalmatians 2, Bambi 2, [Insert any Disney film here] 2, and so on.  Three years ago, Disney announced that they would no longer make direct-to-home release sequels.

Many people were happy about this, because they thought the home release sequels were bad movies, and Disney only made them because they wanted to capitalize on a pre-existing licenses.  "Good for Disney!" people said.  "They're starting to care more about the quality of their products, and less about the profit!"

Well...now it's starting to look like 3D re-releases are Disney's new method of capitalizing on pre-existing licenses.  Which film is going to be re-released next in 3D?  I'm thinking The Little Mermaid or The Jungle Book.

The kind of sad part is that I'm tempted to go see Beauty and the Beast 3D, despite my ban against 3D movies, because the movie comes with a Tangled short.  Sort of like how I was tempted to see Cars 2, because it had a Toy Story short paired with it.  But I understand the Toy Story short has been released on DVD, so if I wait six months, the Tangled short will probably be released on DVD, too.

How come that in 1930, people wished for a big movie experience, and by 1960, 3D comes for the first time, then by 2010, people wished to remove 3D? The world is advancing, we can't turn back the clock. Of course, some theaters may show certain films in traditional 2D. After all, we need success in the world. I do not believe that people should be pessimistic, as I do not believe in a Generica, but a better U.S.

Okay. But you can buy movies in DVD, Blu-ray, and Blu-ray 3D. That will appeal to many customers, I assure you that. Including people who don't like to watch 3D.

Last night my mom and I were watching something on the telly and I saw the commercial for this. I made some sort of outburst and then said something to the effect of "I can't wait to read what Argle has to say about this!" :)

3D gives me headaches and I wish it were used more in the movies with it, instead of a thing here or there. Great movie, but there's really no need for 3D with it.

I love Beauty and The Beast but why are they doing it in 3D? 3D isn't that great to me. One time I went to the movies to go see Disney/Pixar's Up in 3D but it was cool but it kinda gave me headache.

3D stinks if you have glasses on...and even if you don't, it makes your head and eyes hurt afterwards :/

The plus about seeing this is for the color changes and blur effects, which are much more faithful to the original than the 2010 blu-ray release. (does anyone know if the 2D blu-ray off the 3D combo pack have the new colors?)

Better yet, I'm taking no hesitation to see this movie in 3D just for the sake of a theatrical experience. This is a chance in a life time for many who never had this kind of experience with their favorite classic.

To clarify, DVD and traditional Blu-ray are viewed in 2D.

Ok ... but what does that mean with what I asked? Or was that meant for me? Not to sound rude at all - sorry. Just saying.

Actually, Disney is planning a whole line of re-releases over the next few years. Each year featuring a previous success now in 3D. Personally, I'm very excited for Beauty and the Beast! This is my FAVORITE Disney movie ever and cannot wait to see it!! :)

And this is much better than those terrible direct to dvds releases imo. Some such as Cinderella II and III's original voices were no longer there. Mulan II was a disaster with the plot. And majority of the time, sequels are never half as good as the originals. (With the exception of Scooby Doo II) Anycase, below are the future scheduled releases as of right now. :)

Beauty and the Beast – January 13, 2012
Disney/Pixar’s Finding Nemo – September 14, 2012
Disney/Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. – January 18, 2013
(The pre-quel to this movie will be released shortly after in June.)
The Little Mermaid – September 13, 2013

Michael, I can so relate to what you are saying because I have only seen two movies in 3D and I even lifted up my 3D glasses to see if there was any difference between the viewing and to be honest I saw none! The two movies were Tangled and Captain America: The First Avenger in case anyone was was wondering. I remember when Disney had those sequels and the first thing I noticed in the sequels was if there was any children by one of the main characters they always seemed to be wanting to be wild and now the older and wiser ________ (fill in your own answer here) denies their wild past and when trouble comes the parent has to go back to their old ways. I think that Disney must be hurting for business and they are doing almost anything they can drum up support. I hate to say it but lately most of the Disney movies aren't as good as the ones that I got used to watching as a little child. The only Disney animated movie I never watched was The Black Cauldron but other than that every other Disney animated movie I have seen and I own most of them even the sucky sequels. I sometimes watch them when I need a good source of entertainment in fact the Beauty and the Beast movie holds a lot of special memories for me. Why do I say this? It's because I am good in French and my parents would ask me to translate some of the words they say in the movie, for example Lumiere's name means light and Belle means Beauty and Lafou means the fool. Also because my dad was very sick with his cancer and wanted something to get his mind off the pain he would ask me to put this movie on for him but having it put in 3D, I don't think that's such a good idea because part of our childhood has been stolen from us. Okay so you want the newer generations to see the films but can't you release onto a 3D DVD instead of putting it in theaters? Okay I'll get off my soapbox and let others of you leave your comments now.
