Three Things

I just got my copy of Nancy Drew: The Captive Curse, and I have no idea what my opinion on the game is yet.  I've played for about an hour, and I think half of that was spent wandering around, completely lost.  I managed to find two of the characters in the game by pure luck.
1.  So far, I have not seen anything about a curse.  Instead, it's all about a monster who is haunting the Castle Finster.

2. I managed to die within the first five minutes.

3. There is crazy stuff that happens between Nancy and Ned.  That's all I'm going to say at this point.  Also, it seems that Ned hangs out with the Hardy Boys. Who knew?

That is kind of funny and I should be getting mine today. I just wish that the UPS man wouldn't take all day.

I'm so excited! Unfortunately I couldn't preorder because...I'm broke! But I will have enough money by the time the game comes out in stores...hopefully! How did you manage to die in the first five minutes? That means I'll die in the first five seconds!

Yeah... I think in the books Ned and the Hardy boys live in the same town. So it makes since they would hang out.

What's the difference between a special edition and one of the normal ones? We bought the games from the memorial weekend special and I have no idea what makes them cooler than the kind I've always played.

Ned's great, but if the Hardy Boys are involved in the game, that makes it even better! Thanks for the tease! :)

How did you 'die', might I ask? I'm going to get the game sometime... since everyone on HI who has played the game liked it a lot. Yeah, I kind of heard about the drama between Nancy and Ned. They would have put an argument in one of the games sooner or later(it happens in the books a lot).

God Bless you 'arglefumph'!

This time my comment IS related! :) I made a video tour of Castle Finster in hopes of helping you or people who get lost in the castle -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDuwmxpBtcc The video quality isn't very good, but this is like the second video I've made by recording my screen.. :/

Ned and Joe are hanging out in Phantom of Venice. @Violet, Ned and Nancy live in River Heights, the Hardy Boys live in Bayport.

Miriam, I am watching your vids right now. You are doing a good job.

I think it took me a couple of tries to get the basic layout of the castle in Treasure in the Royal Tower. Though From what I have seen so far, it does look very confusing. They do need to make each hallway look a little different.

Oh, I thought Ned went to collage with Frank and Joe, but now I don't think so. Ned went to Emerson collage with Burt and Dave or something. They went out with Bess and George too, right?

I'm guessing this game will be a little like Treasure in the royal tower, where there are many hallways and dead end passages just to make it more realistic. Legend of the crystal skull, however, was pathetic the way it was designed. It was a 2 storey house, yet only 4 rooms? Please.

Looking forward to your walkthrough, arglefumph! (No pressure). I live in Australia, so I have to wait several months before I can buy the game. :(

Are you saying you dont like this one, Michael? The fake german accents will totally annoy me :)About the curse, HERinteractive seems to make the recent games sound so scary and yet nothing. Personally, I disliked the last one 'Shadow at Waters Edge' so much but had to finish it just to be done with it!

@Cat Really? Wow I was wrong... but I swore that a line in "The Clue in the Diary"(that is the title of the book right?) where Ned said, "... I know the road to River Heights and I just might take it someday!" That's not the whole line, of course. He said something before that.

@Violet: I'm not very familiar with the books. What I know about The characters comes form the games. I know Ned's in college, so he might have been at school when he said that.

Nancy and Ned have a fight? Well, that IS a more realistic portrayal of a relationship, but still...

I'm looking forward to the game, though. I just hope this one lives up to its expectations. 'Shadow at the Water's Edge' was touted as the "scariest Nancy Drew adventure ever", but I didn't find it to be. Sure, it had some heart-stopping moments, but I think 'The Curse of Blackmoor Manor' to be the best in terms of scariness. The first (and even second!) time I played CUR, I was almost always expecting something to jump out at me. The atmosphere was just perfect. But maybe it's just becuse I'm used to creepy plots by now that SAW didn't measure up.

To tell you the truth, i don't think the fight between nancy and ned is really a fight. it's not....harsh enough, for a relationship-kind of fight.

I finished Captive Curse. I think Nancy Drew has taken the scarier side of the road, but that just makes it all the more better. It's intense!!!!!

Techianlly Ned goes to Emerson college. but Nancy&Co are friends with the Hardy Boys (since they *have* crossed paths in both super-mysteries and 1 Computer game (Train to Blue Moon)

Nancy should dump Ned for Frank. All I'm sayin.
