A Mysterious Present

When I left my room today, I found a big surprise birthday present waiting outside my door. Someone must have delivered it overnight. It turned out to be a coffee maker from Ellen, complete with a nice card about how she hopes I like the gift and that she hopes everything goes well on my brithday.

There's one slight problem, however.

I don't know anybody named Ellen.

There are no Ellens in the school directory. And this is a closed campus--only students and faculty have the keys to get in. I asked around, but nobody else knows who Ellen is either.

So that means someone named Ellen broke into the school last night in order to give me a coffee maker.

...I am so confused right now, and the whole situation reminds me of a comic strip I once read. If I get any more informationi about this mystery, I'll be sure to let you all know about it.

That's so weird! Well, you'll probably figure out who Ellen is sooner or later ... either someone you know is going under that name or you have an adoring fan somewhere. :-D

Happy belated birthday, Michael! I see it was a pretty good one. Personally, I would be thrilled at the idea of having a mystery to solve on or near my birthday. I would be all over that package like rye on bread. Did you fingerprint it? Analyze the handwriting? Interrogate the RD or dorm neighbors? You better. Nancy would be sorely disappointed if you didn't.

Wow. Weird! Well, you got a free coffee maker out of it! I'm really sorry I haven't been commenting, it's just, a few months (God, it's been MONTHS??? yikes!) ago when I got onto your blog and clicked on the comments, pop-ups started appearing all over my computer, and things said "Your computer has been hacked. It is not safe. Download this software to fix it" and "You have been hacked by a trojan virus, please get new software, your hard drive is in danger of being erased." and stuff like that, so I told my dad and he gave it to his computer genious friend, who fixed it. I've been really scared to get back on your blog for all this time, because I didn't think it was safe, and I didn't want my blog hacked again. But I've been wanting to read your blog SO BADLY for SO LONG and I've really missed commenting. So I just took a chance, hoping the hacker stuff was gone and my new security software would work, and ta-da! It's fine! It's safe! And I'm so happy. You'll be seeing more comments from me, now! And by the way, happy belated birthday! I'm sorry I missed it! I send a virtual happy birthday card!! Sorry again for my absence, maybe I got lucky and you actually didn't really care or notice and I didn't cause any wondering.
